Figma Download

You can access Figma on your laptop, phone, or tablet either through a web browser or by downloading it to your device. The Figma app is available on macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. Just download the app, and start your Figma design process. 

So, let’s find out how to get started with Figma download and the steps for each type of device.

If you want to get a more native Figma design experience, we recommend downloading the Figma desktop app. However, you must ensure that your device meets all the minimum requirements for the operating system to install and use the software:

• Figma for macOS:

Figma software is available for Mac laptops with Intel or Apple Silicon processors. To check if your Mac is compatible with the Figma desktop app, click the Apple menu button that you can find in the upper-left corner of the screen and click on the “About this Mac” button. 

You should be running a macOS 11 or a later version of it. 

• Figma for Windows:

If you want to use the Figma desktop app for Windows, you should run Windows 10 or a later version on a 64-bit operating system.

To ensure your laptop meets these requirements, click Start and select the Computer option. From there, click right to select Properties, and you’ll identify your Windows version.

If you don’t meet these requirements for Windows and Mac devices, you can still use the Figma browser app smoothly.

How To Get Started with Figma Download

Check out how to download Figma for macOS and Windows devices:

1. Download the Figma desktop app: Figma Download for macOS and Figma Download for Windows. The application will be immediately downloaded to your computer.
2. Click on the file, run the installer, and install it as a regular application.
3. Open the Figma desktop app and log in or sign up to get started on your Figma design process!

How to Download the Figma beta version:

If you want to try the beta version and help Figma test and improve performance before it’s publicly available to everyone, check out the Beta version of Figma for macOS and the Beta version of Figma for Windows. Simply download it as the regular version, and you’re good to go!

Once installed, you will see two app icons: the regular Figma desktop app icon and the Figma Beta version icon.

Figma allows you to run the apps together at the same time. You can also use different accounts for these apps.

FigJam is now available for iPads! Although it’s not yet supported on mobile devices, iPad users can enjoy the full FigJam experience. It’s perfect for sketching, brainstorming, wireframing, and writing down every idea that comes to mind.

Once you’ve installed the Figma desktop app, it automatically integrates Google Fonts in your Figma design projects. However, if you want to use additional fonts, you can easily intall them into your device and access them in Figma design. 

How to add a new font in your Figma design files:

1. Download the Figma Font Installer

If using the web browser version, you must download the Figma Font installer. The Figma desktop app already includes this Font Helper, so you can skip this step.

2. Download your font

Figma only supports fonts in TrueType (.TTF) and OpenType (.OTF) file formats. So, make sure your downloaded file meets these requirements. 

Typically, font files come in multiple styles, such as Regular, Bold, Light, and so on. Your download will include a file for each style for your font. If you’re collaborating with other people using other fonts, make sure you have downloaded the file as well. Otherwise, you’ll get an error message regarding mission fonts.

3. Install it into your computer

Once downloaded, make sure you install the font file into your computer in the font manager.

• For macOS devices, it must be installed into the Font Book.
• For Windows devices, it must be installed in the Fonts folder.

4. Use the new font in your Figma design file

Now that you have installed your font into your computer, you’re free to use it into all your Figma design projects. To locate your fonts, you can either type the name of the font into the “Search Fonts” bar, or open the filter dropdown and select “Installed by you”.
