Figma Community

As UI/UX Designers ourselves, let me tell you – Figma Community has been a life changer.

From the first version of Adobe Photoshop to Sketch, when the Adobe Creative Cloud was introduced with all the other Adobe design tools, team collaboration and sharing designs have been a demand – from all UI/UX designers. But Figma changed this. Figma came in and created the most amazing UI/UX design tool for us to communicate and connect, and especially to share other Figma resources with everyone.

“You really do want to enable that for people working in a collaborative space together.” stated Dylan Field, CEO and Co-founder of Figma.

What is Figma Community?

Figma Community is a centralized platform where UI/UX designers can publish their design templates and plugins. It includes Figma resources, UI/UX forums, UI elements, design systems, UI kits, and so many other design files that everyone can use or even remix. Even more so, you can also filter results by All, Files and templates,  Plug-ins, Widgets, or even Creators

Hundreds, if not thousands, of design projects, are shared on the Figma Community daily. Designers, companies, and well, pretty much everyone can publish their templates or even design systems. Those files can be introduced to our designs, and we’re good to go! In other words, the Figma Community is like a Github for UI/UX designers.

You can also access our uinkits Figma Design System, UI App Kits, UI Website Kits, and UI Dashboard Kits.

What are Figma Plugins?

Plugins are third-party programs created by the people within the Figma community. They help UI/UX designers in their design process by providing shortcuts to create complex and beautiful interfaces. From image resizing to 3D mockups and even automatic size checking, Figma plugins can help designers finish their projects faster and more efficiently.

These Figma plugins are amazing for everyone who doesn’t want to manually create the action or simply doesn’t know how. Thanks to Figma, we can easily install plugins into our design, and we’re good to go!

What are Figma Widgets?

A widget is a custom and interactive object that UI UX designers and developers can use in their Figma or FigJam boards. These add-ons work inside your file and allow you to introduce extra features or functionalities to your page. The difference between Figma plugins and widgets is that everyone with “Can Edit” access can easily use the same widget, compared to plugins, which run only for the person who activated it.

Is Figma Community Helpful for UI/UX Designers?

Absolutely! In fact, the Figma Community has been the best thing for UI UX and product designers to put their ideas into action. And here’s why the Figma Community is helpful:

  • Time-Saving: Figma has enabled everyone – both UI/UX designers and developers – to find everything you need in one place. No more searching through multiple platforms for elements, images, or simply for inspiration. Now, you can just look up what you want and simply add it to your library. Not only is it faster, but it’s also easier to manage the files you save in your library.
  • Intuitive Aggregation: With so many resources available, Figma has decided to make it even easier for designers. This is why they developed a simple-to-use and intuitive strategy that compiles all available resources and stores them in one place. You can also filter them based on what type of Figma resource you need – Files and Templates, plug-ins, widgets, or maybe creators.
  • Easy to Use in Our Projects: Due to its nature, once you have found the files you need, just one click, and you’re good to go! Whether it is just one UI element or the entire design, use the old copy-paste method, and you can use it in your design. Some creators limit how much access you have to the files by just creating a cover of how it should look. But in most cases, the elements are editable and customizable, and once you add them to your library, you’re free to use them whenever you want.
  • Inspiration at Every Step: As designers, we’re always looking for inspiration – even when we’re not actively looking for a specific piece of content. This is why we can get insights from all designers – individuals and big companies such as Uber. Plus, you can always just save it and come back to it when you need it. Once you have added to your library, it’s always yours.

How to Use Figma Community Files?

Figma Community is a simple workspace where you can search for the file you need, and all the available options will appear. To search for a specific topic, you can either access the online Figma Community version or, in the Figma app, you will have an option to “Explore Community”.

At the top of the page is a search bar where you can write the type of file you’re looking for – such as “Food App Elements”. You can also filter your search by Files and Templates, Widgets, Plug-ins, or even Creators, and you will find all the resources according to your category. Figma has even curated the files by Inspiration, Design Systems, Visual Assets, Icons, and so many others to help you in your UI/UX design process.

Whether you want a specific iPhone 15 mockup, a plugin to automatically compress your too-big SVG file, multiple social media icons, or a starting point with a design system, the Figma community has everything you need. And it’s simple, fast, and just one click away! And the best part? We can also see reviews, likes, and how many users have used a file.

So, if you have a design or a template or have developed a Figma plugin you want to share with the world, upload it to Figma Community! Get inspired and inspire others as well!
