We are all aware that new technology is always around the corner, surprising us with its improvements and new features. Yet, no matter the industry product or solution we are presented with, we are always looking for an intuitive design.
Think about it… If you see a new laptop, you expect it to have a keyboard, touchpad, and, of course, a screen. However, if the new laptop that you are using has its keyboard organized not in the typical manner that you are used to, it will provoke a bad user experience. Your time spent typing will be longer, and you will encounter some difficulties that you usually wouldn’t think about. So, this is why you, as a UI UX designer, must be mindful to create an intuitive design.
Notifications are UI design elements easily encountered in a user interface. They offer a customizable environment where you can introduce suitable input and offer your user the needed feedback. You can normally see them in the corner of your user interface, appearing briefly to let the users know the feedback received.
Think about it. You have just finished uploading your masterpiece online, but you haven’t received any notification that your work is online. So, this is where toast notifications intervene and make your life easier. They are familiar with pop-up notifications and appear for a brief period of time, helping the user have a good user experience.
Here are the types of notifications that every UI/UX designer should know:
1. Default
The notification toast that is in default or primary status gives the user permission to act on the message it is sending to them. An example of the notification toast in a default state can be seen when undoing a specific action.
2. Multiple Messages
In your UI UX design, you can also implement multiple messages toats, such as when more than one toast can be displayed simultaneously, depending on the case.
3. With Custom Duration
This type of notification toast is used in your user interface for customization in terms of how long it is displayed on the screen. You can also encounter toast notifications in their natural state, which have a duration of 5000 milliseconds.
4. With Action
This type refers explicitly to cases where users can act upon a specific task.
5. Error
As the name suggests, error notification toasts signal to users that an error has occurred and that they must act on it.
