Figma Config 2024 is finally here! And it’s packed with many incredible announcements that will blow your mind!
The event takes place on June 26th and June 27th, 2024, in San Francisco and virtually, and it’s one of the most important design events worldwide. The UI/UX design is all about efficiency through innovation and artificial intelligence. And Figma is at the forefront of the modern and efficient design process. So, let’s see what updates will make our lives easier!
Figma will have a new look! Dylan Field announced at Config 2024 the third redesign of the Figma editor interface with incredible usability improvements and a more component-centered view. The new interface will include a more immersive canvas, adjustable panels, a clearer iconography system, and optional labels in the properties panel.
Ever since the first version of Figma was released, the focus has been on making Figma more powerful by improving user experience and adding multiple functionalities. But this time, Figma’s redesign will be cleaner, bubblier, and, overall, friendlier. And it’s all because they created more space, making it easier to follow. All of these implementations are motivated by the feedback from the Figma Community and by analyzing workflow patterns.
The new redesign is also the result of their intent to make Figma more approachable to a more extensive range of people. Now, we can just focus on our work rather than the canvas.
Amazing news! Figma will now have an integrated AI system that helps us in our creative process. Dylan Field initially announced at Config 2024 the “Visual Search” feature with an improved Asset Search option that helps us find everything we’re looking for – with just one reference, such as a screenshot, frame, or even a basic sketch.
But the big news came when he announced the introduction of generative AI – right into Figma. From generating realistic images to website copy and even renaming layers with just a click. Indeed, almost everyone expected to see these implementations. But we were all speechless when we saw the first generated Figma prototype at Figma Config 2024. Just input your text and click on “Make Design” – and that’s all. What will happen is that it will automatically build the layout of your screen, which is fully customizable and editable, using UI components from their built-in design system. We can adjust the styling, the colors, the corner radius, the spacing, and even the typography.
The best thing about Figma is that they’re always keeping up with the changes in our design processes. Indeed, the collaboration with other team members or people who have access to our files is seamless. But presenting our work to others has been quite tricky. But no more!
At Figma Config 2024, we can now design presentations using brand assets, interactive polls, voting, and other collaborative tools – all within Figma Slides. Now, we have Figma’s best features – live designs, real-time collaboration, and zoom-out view – integrated into a slide tool that will be instantly familiar.
Figma Slides will be available in early 2025 – for both free and paid versions.
