Figma Config 2024 is finally here! After an incredible first day, Figma Config 2024 has brought even more surprises for UI/UX designers on the second day!
The event took place on June 26th and June 27th, and it brought together designers from all over the world! On the first day, Dylan Field announced the latest Figma updates that we will see – the redesign of the editor interface – Figma UI3, the integration of AI into the platform, an improved Auto Layout, and the introduction of Figma Slides. And I have to be honest, I couldn’t be more excited about the news!
Luckily for us, we got so many other surprises! The second day of Figma Config 2024 was designed (pun intended) for community-building, including events, workshops, sessions, and many inspiring speeches from the best in the industry. All of these have one goal: to help us level up our skills, build our network, and, overall, become better UI/UX Designers. So, here’s what happened at Figma Config 2024, day two:
The most awaited sessions at Config 2024, day two, were Figma’s “deep dives” into their new features, during which multiple experts at Figma were invited to the stage. And it makes sense – there’s no better way to learn about Figma than right from Figma.
On day one, we found out the new features. On day two, we put everything into practice. Multiple experts at Figma showed us how to leverage the latest AI superpowers that will help us design faster, quicker, and better and explained how to develop compelling narratives using Figma Slides. Plus, we’ve also talked about everything we need to know about improving our workflows with the best practices for design systems.
Config 2024 also had something good for developers. With a focus on bridging the gap between design and development by bringing more clarity to the collaboration, the speakers illustrated the new features in Dev Mode, including Ready for Dev View and Focus View. Plus, designers and developers loved Code Connect, an efficient tool for driving the adoption of design systems across the development stage.
In the last couple of years, there has been a new focus in the UI/UX design world: design systems. And Figma has made it possible to implement them successfully. This is why, at Figma Config 2024, Nate Baldwin, senior Staff Designer at Adobe, talked about managing and building a multi-brand design system and highlighted the importance of close collaboration between designers and developers. Plus, we also got insights into how to improve our design systems through A/B testing. Isn’t this so cool?
One of the most inspiring and interesting sessions at Figma Config 2024 was Jessica Hische’s speech. She specializes in logo design, film, television, and even books, and she walked us through the entire process – from ideation to implementation, all while paying attention to invisible details that can make the difference between a design and a good design.
Most of us use Figma to build digital products – websites, mobile apps, dashboards, software web, etc. This is why Figma Config 2024 significantly focused on improving our process when developing and designing these products. One main theme was discussed and referred to throughout the day: the future of product management.
Speakers talked about the integration of artificial intelligence and how to build products for (and with) Gen Z. Peter Yang, Product Lead at Roblox, even shared some incredible examples to help us craft products that we’re proud of – from using AI to automate our work, to building customer communities, and make the entire design process much more efficiently. Plus, we also touched on what’s coming next in the design world – can we really build a human future using robots?
And that’s a wrap! Figma Config 2024 is officially over! We can’t wait for what’s coming next year in 2025! Until then, we’re so excited about the latest Figma updates.
